Interesting to note that the protagonist begins the game believing that he's the Ultimate Lucky Student, but ends as the Ultimate Hope, marking a transition from blind luck to faith and providence.

And what is the culmination of this faith? It is the rejection of monasticism, withdrawal, and despair, leading to an engagement with the world in terms of restoring it. As the characters in the game say, that's where we're supposed to be.

It's interesting that the students would have likely resigned themselves to live out the rest of their lives within the school had it not been for the despair that had dwelled among them. Only then did they come to realize that graduation means going out into the world, regardless of its condition. They had a responsibility to restore it.
